We love Christmas…so special because it only comes once a year. These gatherings in Austin to celebrate the holidays echo this. Why you ask? They are available for one night (or day) only. Below are our four picks for one time showings of holiday treats.
A John Waters Christmas
When: Friday December 1, 2017, 8PM Paramount Theatre
Why: Who wouldn’t want to see a one man show from the guy with a cult following who has created mainstream iconic pieces such as Hairspray.
When: Wednesday December 13, 7PM Paramount Theatre
Why: Admit it, you sing this song at least once to yourself every Christmas. You have seen the movie at home numerous times, but never saw it on the big screen like your grandparents did. Now’s your chance.
It’s a Wonderful Life
When: Sunday December 17, 7PM Paramount Theatre
Why: You are too busy going to parties and celebrating Christmas to catch this film on NBC. Plus, it’s one of those rare movies that make for a great date night or a great night out with the family.
Graham Reynolds Ruins the Holidays
When: Wednesday December 20, 7:30PM The Long Center
Why: Because any Christmas in Austin wouldn’t be complete without live music. Reynolds has collaborated with Austin resident and Academy Award-nominated film director Richard Linklater, so you know it will have a unique local flavor.
