Have you ever been stopped in your tracks? Yep, rarely are we either. Recently, while traveling down West Avenue toward the new Fifth & West high-rise downtown, we came across something that stopped us in our tracks… a Fellini-esque mural on the side of Green Light Social that will surely inspire your next cocktail excursion.
According to the owners of the establishment, Green Light has its roots in prohibition. During the prohibition era, “green door” was a common pseudonym for a speakeasy location. Lit or un-lit green lights were used as indicators for a speakeasy’s accessibility. Together, these two prohibition allusions combine to make the adage Green Light, which speaks to the exclusivity of the establishment.
