STREET SEEN: ALL THAT’S JAZZ

Instead of parking in front of where we were going to dine for lunch, we opted to park a block away and walk. We are so glad we did as we discovered a more artful approach to seeing the city.

While en route to our destination in the East End IBIZ District on 11th street, we came upon a mural that embodies everything to love about Austin. On the Dr. Charles E. Urdy Plaza located on Southwest corner of Waller and East 11th Street, we were entranced by Jazz age inspired fresca tiled mural created by local artists John Yancey and Regina Thomas.

The two vibrant, rainbow colored murals showcase the cultural heritage of the hottest area in town. The next time you venture east, take a moment to soak in this inspired and locally create artistic monument in the city we love to call home.
